REVISED: Pro-Con Formative Assessment

This article about the Hawaii Superferry (click to view full article) explains why Mayor Hannemann wants the Superferry back in Hawaiian waters. The mayor stated that it would be a great idea for transportation between the islands, and "those who had the experience of utilizing the Superferry loved it." (Mayor Mufi Hannamann 2010) The article also had some other viewpoints, including Democrat Neil Abercrombie, as well as Robert Harris (executive director of Sierra Club Hawaii) who sued the Superferry Company.

Proposition: The State of Hawaii should bring back the Superferry.

  1. Hey Korie! ^____^

I agree with you that the Superferry should be revived. Like you said, in a tough economy like this, it would provide more jobs opportunities. However, one issue had me backtracking. The fact that it might harm whales and transfer invasive species from island to island is a negative for me. But besides that, I'm all for the return of the Superferry!

  2. Hello Korie :DDD

I have just read your post & article and I think that it is a good idea to bring back the Superferry too! As long as the EIS statement gets written then everything will be less of a hassle with arguements about returning the Hawaii Superferry. I agree with you that the Superferry can result in many advantages for people, and can lead to exchanges with our neighbor islands, which is a very good thing! But this won't happen unless Mufi Hannemann gets elected governor! Let's hope the Superferry will return! :D

  3. Hi Korie,
You've got the issue and the summary, but your proposition needs to be just a single sentence position statement, rather than a paragraph of argument.
